Rachael Ma. Interview
Rachael Ma. is a choreographer in NYC best known for inspiring students, dancing professionally in NYC and advocating for Arts Education in Public Schools. She is currently the head choreographer for Mass Movement2 Company and the national Algy Performance Catalogue.
Nickname: RachMa!
Biggest phobia: I once saw a roach drop from the studio ceiling onto another dancer and crawl down her back-- which was totally awful--but nothing gets me crazier than spiders!
Beauty product I can’t live without: The eyelash curler. Shes a goddess.
Favorite off camera outfit: Im always casually lounging in a frilly, Betsey Johnson, teacup dress with heels... or sweats :)
Favorite gig: Sharing the stage with 80s music icons Duran Duran comes to mind, as well as walking the red carpet at the 2009 Burlesque Festival in NYC, but honestly, nothing gets better than just having an amazing night of performing and that award goes to the September 6th, 2009 Love Show gig held at New Yorks famed Slipper Room in the Lower East Side. It was amazing.
What best describes me: a) girly, b) tomboy, c) total glam, d) a little of everything: At home Im simple, quiet and girly and then on stage its Glam Diva to the Max!
In 10 years I want to be: Ms. Angela (note: Ms. Angela is Rach's mom, director of a prominent dance studio in South Florida as well as the Fort Lauderdale Children's Ballet Theatre)
My idol is: Momma
What I get the most compliments on: Virtuosity; being able to do it all.
Most embarrassing moment: ahhh! it pains me to even think about it... but i had a wig malfunction during a totally serious dance. eek.
Stupidest rumor I’ve heard about myself: That my boobs were fake. Ha!
Best beauty tip I’ve ever gotten: Blend, blend, blend.
My friends make fun of me for: Squinting my left eye like a pirate when I laugh.
One thing I wish I knew 5 years ago: I wish I understood the value of balance. As a performer, you're always running from class to gig to photo shoot to audition and thats just the nature of the beast. But having down time and giving yourself a chance to rest is so essential to not burning out- and staying healthy!
What's in my compact: butterscotch, snow, HD peach, and HD white eyeshadows and highlighter, with chic blush

DCF Cover Girl
Get ready for monthly interviews from Cliche from inspiring starlets and fashionistas. We'll have them answer our Cliche questions. This month, meet our Dancer's Care Foundation Pink cover girl, Carly Turner. She was a Miss Florida 2008 Contestant, Recipient of Miss Florida "Most Beautiful Eyes" Scholarship, and Recipient of Miss Orlando Community Service Award. Oh, and she's a singer!
Cliché Questions
Nickname: Most of my friends call me "Car" or "Carl"
Biggest phobia: APPLE JUICE!!! I know it's really weird, but I am terrified of it.
Beauty product I can’t live without: Definitely can't live without my Aussie Freeze Spray and my teasing comb...the higher the hair, the closer to God!
Favorite off stage outfit: I'm basically obsessed with the whole "high-waisted" trend right now, so I'm always wearing high-waisted skirts and shorts.
Favorite pageant: My favorite pageant has to be the first one I did 2 years ago, which was Miss Orlando. It's my favorite because the opening number was "Legally Blonde" themed, and even though I'm a horrible dancer, I had so much fun doing it!
What best describes me: a) girly, b) tomboy, c) total glam, d) a little of everything I would have to say I'm a mix between girly and total glam.
In 10 years I want to be: I hope to have a successful career either in nursing or singing, whichever comes first, and I will probably be having kids by then! (scary thought!)
My idol is: Definitely my mom. She's basically superwoman. She works three jobs, started her own piano class business, and still finds the time to anything and everything for her friends and family with a smile on her face!
What I get the most compliments on: I'd say it's a toss up between my hair and my smile. People seem to like my teeth...lol.
Most embarrassing moment: I hate this question!! I have a lot of these....let's see...most embarrassing moment would have to be during one of my pageants, I had to go on stage for talent and when I took my first step on the stage, I realized my high heel was caught in a hole in the back of my dress and I tripped, and then I had to hobble to the microphone because my foot was stuck in the back of my dress.
Stupidest rumor I’ve heard about myself: I can't really think of any at the moment, but I try to ignore rumors. They're never true!
Best beauty tip I’ve ever gotten: Skincare! People underestimate the importance of taking care of your skin. Make-up is supposed to enhance your natural assets, and your skin is your biggest one! Lots of moisturizer and SPF!
My friends make fun of me for: Definitely my toes. I have the smallest, weirdest looking toes. I don't blame them for making fun of them.
One thing I wish I knew 5 years ago: That my parents are almost always right, and that we would be best friends one day. If I knew that 5 years ago, I would've listened to their advice and been a lot nicer!
Fav Cliche: I am in love with the HD Bubble Gum lip gloss! It's the perfect shade of pink- I wear it every day!

Creating the Celeb Couture Line
Starting a makeup line is not an easy feat. Here's as inside look into what we've been doing while working with Katee, Courtney, and Chelsie. First we had to decide what type of compacts each dancer would design. We ended up deciding that each dancer would design both an everday and stage makeup compact. Then we had to decide what to put in them! After many conversations and makeup samples we finalized the products. Next came the compact design, each dancer got to decide what her compacts would look like down to the special message inside. Each dancer also got to add their own outside element to the compacts, you'll see what we mean when they launch. We can't give away too much info- so stay tuned!!! Launching this summer!!!

Girl on the Go
So mobile blogging is like THE most amazing thing to ever happen to this blog. I have updating issues and this is totally going to help! We've changed the structure a little and most of the posts will be updates and the tips, tricks, and trends will always be posted on the ride hand side as they will not be updated as often because those don't change as often :-)
Anyway, we've added a contest for the master classes, checkout the signup page for info. Oh and for the record, we are growing in the dance world but we still sell everyday makeup too! Makeup is makeup no matter what the occasion.
Speaking of mobility, stay tuned for a super cool mobile site coming soon!
