Adding a metallic shadow in the inner corners make the eye instantly pop with a neutral eyeshadow on the lids. This look is great when you are going for a simple look but still want to bring attention to your eyes. Curl your lashes and load up on black mascara and you will have instantly brighter eyes.

Well, ladies I have some tips and tricks for looking fabolous at school.

1. Foundation- when it comes to foundation if you don't need it don't wear it. A tinted mosturizer will do the the trick for covering minor spots and giving you an flawless complexion. For those who want to wear foundation, I suggest choosing a light to medium coverage foundation to avoid looking cakey and looking too overdone for school.

2. Eyes- as far as the eyes go curling your lashes and adding a little mascara will make your eyes pop and make you look alert and ready to listen to that two hour lecture.

3. Cheeks- peach and pink blush are great because they look good on all skin types and complexions and gives the face a nice wash of color

4. Lips- a nice colored lipgloss will definitely complete your look. Or if you are like me and love lipstick a nice rosy lipstick will be subtle enough for school. Also, try a lipstain that won't dry out your lips. Lipstains are the perfect combination of a lipstick and lipgloss all rolled into one product.

I hope these tips and tricks help you and cut your makeup routine in half. Also, let me know some of your tips for getting ready in the morning for school.

Face masks are great when one wants to feel pampered and help to refresh and rejuvenate the face. One thing I have learned when wearing lipstick is your lips must be smooth and free of any chapped skin when achieving a flawless lipstick application. One way to exfoliate your lips and remove the dead skin is by using a homemade lip scrub.

One homemade lip scrub I like to use is a sugar and salt lip scrub. The ingredients are pretty simple and are probably items you already have in your cupboards. To make the scrub, just combine salt, sugar and vaseline together. This scrub will leave your lips soft and free of any dry skin. I recommend exfoliating lips a couple of times a week if you wear lipstick everday like me.Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09111461860672268596noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1980050271836569203.post-31669030945269857332011-07-22T16:24:00.003-04:002011-07-22T16:50:08.040-04:00Cliche's Beauty Blogger of the Week

Today's Beauty Blogger is Amanda, she is another beauty guru on Youtube who gives great beauty advice to her subscribers. Below are a few questions I asked her about when she knew she loved makeup and some upcoming trends.

1. When did you know you had a passion for makeup?
I knew I had a passion for makeup as soon as I started wearing it. I was 11 years old and I wore clear mascara which did nothing for my lashes, bright red clown blush that was applied on my cheeks in the shape circles and mood changing lipstick which turned a bright red color on my lips. And I thought I was looking goooood!

2. What are five beauty products you can not live without?
I can't live without my MAC studio moisture cream, Christian Dior mascara, Anastasia Brow Duo Shadow, MAC Technokohl eyeliner in Graphblack, and Embark MAC eyeshadow. Phew that was a close one. It was really hard to pick just five.

3. What are your favorite beauty trends this summer?
I am loving the crochet racer back tanks and dresses. The big beautiful straw hats and the giant bold flower necklaces. Which reminds me I need to buy a huge straw hat and a giant bold flower necklace.

4. What beauty advice would you give to women who are just starting to experiment with makeup?
Feel beautiful in your own skin. I used to wear makeup 24/7 even when I would just go to check the mail. "Beauty is something that comes from both inside and out, but true beauty comes from within".

5. What are some of the biggest beauty mistakes you feel women make when it comes to makeup?
Most importantly whatever you do practice applying your makeup with makeup brushes over and over, make sure your eyeshadow application doesn't look like you got into a fight and lost. I made that mistake when I first started making videos and was experimenting with makeup brushes. Starting out I would make sure you at least have a great makeup brush for your eye crease. A sponge tip applicator for your eyeshadow just won't do.

Finally I would like to say to make sure you do what makes you happy. " If you love what you do you won't work a day in your life". -Confucius

Check out this video of Amanda titled "My Perfect Imperfections"

Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09111461860672268596noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1980050271836569203.post-34152806759120815262011-07-20T12:45:00.004-04:002011-07-20T12:57:40.342-04:00Tips for Long-lasting Makeup in the SummertimeWhile I was browsing Allure's website I found this article on how to prevent your makeup from melting in the summer. I thought it might be helpful for you ladies who want to still look fabolous during the summertime but are afraid the heat might melt your makeup off. Some of the tips are:

1. Put Less Makeup On: I suggest putting on a tinted moisturizer because it feels lighter but if you want more coverage less makeup is your best option

2. Use Creamy eyeshadows: these shadows are known to last longer especially in the hot heat

3. Waterproof Mascara: I think this one is self-explanatory

4. Liquid Eyeliner: this type of eyeliner will stay in place longer and less likely to smudge than an eye pencil

5. Cream blush: cream based blushes are known for lasting longer than powder blushes

For more tips checkout the post http://www.allure.com/makeup-looks/2010/meltproof_makeup#slide=1Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09111461860672268596noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1980050271836569203.post-70893265166652809162011-07-13T16:09:00.006-04:002011-07-14T11:01:56.507-04:00The Next Gen Insider ContestCliche Cosmetics and The Summer Dance Series presents The Next Gen Insider Contest. Our first beauty blogger of the week is Jennifer Dawson, who loves makeup and gives great advice on hair and makeup on her Youtube channel as well as on our blog. And after watching her videos I can say this lady knows what she is talking about.

1. When did you know that you really had a passion for makeup?

This may sound silly, but I have had a love for makeup since I was probably four years old watching my beautiful grandmother apply her hot pink lipstick on a summer evening preparing for guests on the patio. She was what I call a late day Marilyn Monroe as she looked so much like her as a young woman and what I would imagine her to look like as a woman in her fifties. When it comes to adult experiences in the freelance makeup artist industry, it can vary from the insecure bride with facial and back acne I was able to cover without looking overdone and telling her "no,no tears" so it wouldn't run down her cheeks or to see a young girl look beautiful at her first prom when a week before she was teased for not owning the most popular clothing trends. Sometimes, being the makeup artist is much like being the hairstylist and we get to be a friend or an ear to listen while they are in our chair.

I hope I pass along some inspiration to others that pertains to outside and inside beauty. Have you ever thought someone was beautiful for months or years and then you had the opportunity to meet that person and the way they spoke of others completely changed your thoughts on their beauty? Suddenly their eyes didn't look so strikingly blue, those white teeth weren't so noticeable anymore or you didn't notice her tiny waist as she walked away. I have and strive to never hurt others with my words. This may sound so cliche, yet beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What I didn't mention was that my grandmother was shot at the young age of 26, being a beautiful young woman on the outside got her some attention from others, but beautiful on the inside for being honest and faithful to my grandfather. She had been pursued by a man that wanted to be more than friends. Being a friend of a friend, he was nicely turned down over and over. Yet he made his way to her back door while may grandfather was working and shot her when she opened the door. The bullet went in under her arm as she was pushing the door closed and came out at the bottom of her spine. He ran. My father was the only witness at seven years old and her father-in-law, being the doctor in the town, came next door to do what he could until further help came. She could have been angry and bitter after lying for months in a bed at a rehabilitation hospital. Instead, she chose to love and be passionate about life. She laughed all of the time, told my grandaddy how handsome he was all of the time, wore beautiful pink lipstick each day, picked out the perfect blonde every six weeks...it didn't matter to her or anyone else that she couldn't walk. Nobody noticed! She took life by the horns and was loved by all, pitied by none. She was beautiful to the eye and in all senses of the word. I know this was a long response, but I couldn't give a cookie cutter answer. I wanted to tell you how it started and how it remains to this day

2. What is one Summer beauty item that you are using right now?

I am really enjoying powder foundations that can be applied wet for more coverage. It is wonderful during this heat wave or if you have very sensitive and/or acne prone skin:) I hate going to work out with no makeup so this type of foundation is great for a light coverage used dry and a bit more coverage using a light mist of your favorite skin refresher or water on your kabuki...then just dip into your pressed or loose powder foundation for additional coverage. Just a tip: I always like to keep my pressed compact open during your workday or overnight, just to allow the product to dry before closing. It will avoid cracking or those ugly "dark" marks in your product. I use that same rule with pressed eyeshadows when I use them with wet brushes.

3. What are some new beauty trends?

My favorites right now are Coral lipstick, colorful eyeliner on the bottom lash-line with a neutral eyeshadow look or on the contrary no bottom liner at all with a cat eye, nail polish strips that last for nearly two weeks (not the foil, but true nail polish strips) and hair pieces. I love the fact that I can enjoy my very short hair, but with a few clip ins I can take my look to a long asymmetrical bob in minutes. Removable hair being clips or wigs are taking us by storm!

4. What is your favorite Cliche Cosmetics product and why?

Primetime is an amazing eyeshadow primer that I would say is more than just a primer. It is your primer to keep the shadow in place as well as a base to make the shadows jump out at you. Grab that fluffy eyeshadow brush or a concealer brush depending upon your preference and just blend it all the way to the brow for supreme coverage and priming. A little goes a long way so you will have enough for the inside corners of your eyes and under your eyes for the shadow highlight and lower lash eyeshadow. I need to re-stock so I can show everyone in my videos the way it pops. I truly enjoyed this and to give you an idea of how a little bit goes a long way, it used to be sold in the eyeshadow size pans and it lasted everyday for about six months. Truly useful, effortless, economical and it is hard to find a great primer at an affordable cost that lasts for several months. I can only imagine how long the new one lasts...I would use the new one in all of my videos. Birthday request to the hubby...hmmm?

I know you said one product, but may I mention that Dash eyeshadow is an amazing black matte eyeshadow that is much more pigmented than other matte blacks I have used. I was shocked when I first used it...no need to apply pressure. A little goes a long way and blends wonderfully for an outer corner or for use as a liner. If you are filling your magnetized palette, Dash is one to grab! Thanks for giving them all such nice names also!

5. What are some of the biggest mistakes people make when applying makeup?

I always say there are no rules to makeup as I believe we should all express ourselves in many ways with makeup. If I worked for a cosmetic company that would accept any look I felt as though I wanted to wear that morning, I would imagine some days I would resemble the neutral sun-kissed look with gloss and some days I may even experiment with some bright, neon looks for fun. It is all about expression and that is another reason why I love the power of makeup. It can make someone blend into the crowd if she pleases or bring someone to tears with the power they exude with a particular look.

However, there are those guidelines that we all follow For instance, blend your properly matched foundation into your jawline/neck area, an over exaggerated eye is beautiful as well as an overaggerated lip, but not together. Our brows are best when filled in, yet we don't want them to be overdrawn with the "pencil" look, eyelashes are gorgeous as long as we are sure to cover those glue lines with the eyeliner again after the glue has dried. Even the dark glue is recognizable. I always say that the eyeshadow fallout that nobody realizes is on top of their lashes (I cannot see mine, but realize it is probably there by the end of my application) yet we can always use that to our advantage by swooping the mascara not only under the lashes, but on top to add "bulk" to the lashes .To avoid colored teeth, apply your lipstick, pucker and pat, apply again, repeat so you don't have to look to go into the bathroom after a meeting at work to realize you have lipstick on your teeth. Currently, my favorite mint nail polish is Sally Hansen's Mint Sorbet(the bottle on the right).

The thing I love about mint nail polishes is they give the nails a clean, fresh and playful look causing them to instantly stand out. Some of the brands with great mint nail polishes are Sally Hansen, China Glaze, OPI and Essie.

So if you have ever been skeptical of trying mint, I assure you will love it once you put it on.

Did you know that 90% of cardiologist visits are stress related? We are all making our selves SICK with stress!

When I was struggling with bulimia, any kind of stress would send me over the edge. I didn’t even recognize the connection until much later. But now that I’ve figured it out, I’m able to share my little nugget of wisdom and I pray it helps you too! I wish I could have read this like 12 years ago (seriously)!

So what’s so bad about stress? It causes us to react, which isn’t a bad thing but the HOW is where we get into trouble. HOW we react can put us in the doctor’s office or we can choose the only alternative that has 100% no side effects, 100% organic, 100% free, and is 100% available to everyone! Let’s look at this option.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on Him (God) because He cares for you.

The biggest struggle I had was that I had NO WHERE to take my stress. So I took it out on myself with binging and purging. The KEY is in the scripture above, we have to think of stress like a HOT POTATO and pass it off to God--QUICKLY! Pray and ask God to take it from you and He will, because He loves us more than we can even imagine.

Here's a little experiment for you to conduct, start looking around and taking notice when people get put under pressure and are stressed. You will hear things like, “I need a drink, I’m going to get high, I just want to get wasted, I need retail therapy, etc.” Those words are desperate pleas for relief, but it’s a FALSE and TEMPORARY sense of relief because they haven’t gotten rid of the stress, they’ve simply covered it with alcohol, drugs or NEW SHOES!

It’s CRITICAL that we get rid of the stress for REAL. We must give all of it over to Jesus, He is he ONLY one who can take it away and restore us. No person can. No boyfriend, friend, husband, not even your mom. We need to learn to go to God first, He must be our first stop when we are stressed, anxious, in pain and hurting. He is truly the only ONE who is certified to do such a miracle as REMOVING the trouble from our heart and replacing it with PEACE.

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When stress goes up, pray for God’s peace to come down!

Well, there's hope for those who suffer from acne. Makeup can be helpful when trying to cover up acne marks, blemishes and dark spots. Below I have listed some tips when using makeup to cover up acne.

1. Start off with a clean and moisturized face.
- A clean face will allow for a smoother application and prevent bacteria and other germs

2.Use Concealer
- Green Tinted Concealer: when applied this concealer helps to cover red blemishes
- For dark spots, use a yellow based mineral concealer

3. Apply Foundation
- For those with acne, foundation should be applied with either a makeup wedge or brush
-brushes should be cleaned daily to prevent bacteria which could aggravate the acne
- Use oil-free or noncomedogenic makeup, these should not irritate the skin
- Set makeup with powder and you are good to go!Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09111461860672268596noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1980050271836569203.post-30468297749371682872011-06-21T11:22:00.004-04:002011-06-21T11:31:31.840-04:00SUMMER TREND: COLOR BLOCK
One summer trend evey makeup maven should try is a bold color on the lids. Playful colors such as blue, purple, orange and green on the lid is a great way to switch up your normal makeup routine and get ready for the summer.

The trend has been seen recently on the runaways and in magazine ads. The trend calls for a bright color splashed across the lid paired with a bright lip color. However, if you are not that daring I suggest you pair the bold eye color with a nude lip.

Warning: the two bold colors should be worn either after work or for a night on the town.

Another tip is to apply white eyeliner on the water line to make the look pop even more. The next and final step is to curl those lashes and add some mascara and you are good to go.

Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09111461860672268596noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1980050271836569203.post-53703608684505622082011-06-21T10:25:00.002-04:002011-06-21T10:30:23.154-04:00Check out Always New You Blog.

Check out "Feeling Peachy about the Summer" Article written by yours truly on Always New You blog. Have you ever bought blush thinking it was gorgeous in the package but come to find out when you put it on it just didn't look good on your face? Maybe it was too light or just didn't look good with your complexion. Well, ladies there's hope to finding the blush that is right for you. Recently, I began reading Bobby Brown' s book Beauty Rules in which Ms. Brown tells you the shades of blush that are right for your complexion. Below is the the blush color she suggests for different complexions and the recommeded Cliche Cosmetics blush.

For pale skin, soft pastels without brown tones are suggested. The DCF Pink blush would be ideal for this complexion.

For light pale skin, try pink tones to bring out your skin. Chic blush would be the ideal blush for light pale skin.

For medium skin, sandy pink to tawny tones would be ideal, I suggest Mango blush.

For those with yellow or Olive Rose skin try deep pink tones to complement your skin. Mango blush would also be a good blush for yellow or olive rose complexion.

For those with a dark or black skin soft plum or deep cranberry tones will instantly warm the face. Two Cliche blushes to try would be Berry or Adobe.

I hope this post helps all of you ladies who continue to struggle with finding the right blush color. Also feel free to comment on this post and tell us your tips and advice on finding the right blush.

<span Whether you have to brush, trim, wax or pluck or have to fill in the gaps between hairs with an eyebrow powder or pencil to give them a more defined and groomed look, well groomed eyebrows are a must in creating the perfect canvas for the rest of your make-up application.

2. Curl those lashes - the few seconds it takes to curl your lashes do not equal the great reward it gives; doing this opens up your eye area and makes your mascara way more effective than it would be otherwise.

3. Fingertip application - To create a more natural look and to blend more easily and effectively, fingertip application is encouraged. This technique can be useful for blending colors, applying concealer, primer and eye-shadows!Clichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14444951828232433556noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1980050271836569203.post-52357498980689576832011-02-26T19:39:00.005-05:002011-02-26T20:58:33.504-05:00Cliche asked a lot about our policy on parabens. This blog will hopefully answer a lot of our customers' questions on this issue.

Firstly to answer the question, we do use parabens in SOME of our products. For those of you who are not aware of what parabens are here is a brief introduction: The FDA classifies them as preservative for cosmetic products. They prevent cosmetic products from growing microorganisms hence increasing the product shelf life and providing consumers with longer lasting quality products. The FDA also approves levels of up to 25% of parabens in cosmetic products and yet cosmetic products typically contain less than 0.3% of parabens.

The main reasons why we choose to use parabens in SOME of our products are that they have been used in cosmetic products since the 1920s; they are well proven as an effective preservative and still remain the most widely used ingredient in today’s cosmetics, second only to water.

Although alternatives to parabens do exist, their ability to effectively preserve cosmetic products and possible side effects are still not fully known or understood. Consumers should also be aware that many of the new generation of “natural”, “organic” and “mineral” products, use parabens as a preservative and products that carry those labels do not guarantee a paraben free product.
Clichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14444951828232433556noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1980050271836569203.post-44135489416798279742010-12-09T18:43:00.000-05:002010-12-09T18:43:41.114-05:00WN A $500 SHOPPING SPREE WITH CLICHEAS SEEN IN LUCKY MAGAZINE!!
