Worst blogger ever? Over here!

So yes I'll be the first to admit that it is completely ridiculous that it has taken me so long to update this blog! But in my defense, we have been working super hard. We've been attending all sorts of events and trade shows. Here's some pics:

This is Diane and I, this was the very first show we ever did. We decided that night that we hated our table and have since changed it completely. Hey you have to start somewhere right?

This is at The Pulse in Hollywood, the dancers loved the makeup! Our table was also much improved if you ask me! Anyway, more tips and tricks coming soon, I promise!!!

Sealed With A Kiss

-Can't find a lip liner to match your lipstick? Use a lip liner that is the same color as your lips.

-Apply white eyeliner to the bow of your top lip for a little more pop.

-Any lipcolor with a blue tint to it will make your teeth look whiter. That doesn't mean artic blue lipstick, even reds can have a hint of blue in them.

He Makes Me Blush

-Blend, Blend, Blend, ALWAYS blend!

-Forget all the rules you've been told about your face shapes and blah blah blah, play around- you'd be surprised about what looks best.

-Who says you can't use blush on your eyes and vice versa? It's worth a try...

-Ever tried applying shimmer to the top of your cheekbones? Well you should!

If eyes are the windows to the soul... make them fabulous

-To add extra drama to any look we suggest also applying dark brown or black eyeliner to the inner part of your lower lash line, all the way across.

-For less drama and a more daytime friendly look we suggest applying white eyeliner to the inner part of your lower lash line. You'll look more awake.

-Don't be afraid to mix eyeshadow colors to create the exact shade that you want. It's just like mixing paint colors, same rules apply.

-Always blend everything into the crease of your eyelid so your fabulous makeup will be seen when your eyes are open. If you can't see it then go a little higher. (The crease is where your eyeball ends and your brow bone starts)

-Mix and match the colors however you like for day or night. There are no rules. The best suggestion we can offer for a good look no matter what is to always put a lighter color on the brow bone for contrast and pop.

-Your bottom lashes are there for a reason- don't ignore them, they can make your eyes really pop. Hint: Use our mascara sheild right under your bottom lashes while applying mascara to avoid making a mess of mascara on your face.

-Can't find the eyeliner color you want? Or is the eyeliner too harsh on your eyes? Well girlie we've got news for ya: iline! It's amazing. Just a drop and you've got easy liquid eyeliner that you can apply with any brush.

-Everyone loves a little shimmer but please don't go overboard. And try a product like eye primer to keep it in place all day or night.

How to get perfect eyebrows

Ok the truth is that most people do not have fabulous eyebrows but that doesn't mean that they can't have fabulous eyebrows. And until you do, you don't realize how important they are to your face! It can change your whole look.

So heres the deal:
1. If you have thicker eyebrows, rock them! Don't make then ridiculously skinny if they weren't meant to be that way. Just tweeze the extra hairs below the brow that don't belong.
2. DON'T WAX your eyebrows. What? Yes, you read correctly, do not WAX your eyebrows, tweeze them chicas. Think about it, the skin on your eyes is very thin and sensitive, waxing it will just speed up the drooping process, no one wants that. Tweeze them and you can even whip out an eyebrow razor and scissors too. If you can't resist waxing then just wax the middle part between the two, the skin is thicker there.
3. Here's the biggest secret of all: your eyebrows should be an eyes legth apart. So if you put a third eye in the middle of your two brows that is exactly how far apart they should be. You can make them a hair closer or further apart if you have very wide set or close set eyes.
4. The arch should be right above the outside of your pupil if you're looking straight into the mirror.
5. The biggest mistake that I see is people forget to tweeze some of the hairs below the brows towards the center of the face. In other words, a lot of people's brows end up looking like little squares with lines coming out of them. You've seen it! We all have.
6. If you have unruley brows, go ahead and trim them with scissors, no problemo. Just be careful.
7. I'm not condoning it but I myself have once been known to put Rogaine on my brows before bed to make them grow back quicker. Hey I was once a victim of the box/line brows too.
8. Fill them in with brow powder, not pencil. Pencil is harsh and unnatural. Use an angled brush and fill them in everyday. It will change your look.

Hope that helps!

Get the Look- Gossip Girl Style

Alright, so I have to admit, my guilty pleasure is without a doubt Gossip Girl. I plan my life around Monday nights and TiVo it just in case I miss the first 2 seconds. Blair and Serena always flaunt the latest fashions and makeup. So you wanna look like a gossip girl?

Create the same look with Cliche Cosmetics. Serena is often seen with pink eyeshadow similar to "pillow talk" with her eyes lined in black (black magic with some iline will do the trick). She usually has pink lipgloss on in a shade like "pink extravaganza minty gloss". Blair is usually seen in more of a red gloss, like "cherry minty gloss". Her eyes are usually lined in a "choclate brown" color and a nude shadow with a hint of shimmer like "cream dust". Both of them tend to rock the pink blush, (I suggest "chic"). And there you have it. Pretty simple with a stunning effect.

The List:
Eyeshadows in Pillowtalk, Black Magic, Cream Dust, and Chocolate Brown
iline
Minty lipgloss in Pink Extravaganza and Cherry
Chic Blush
Maybe a little bronzer...

Isn't that the perfect custom compact?

You Know You Love Me,

Jess

Dance like nobody's watching

Once upon a time, yours truely was a dancer. I stopped my senior year of high school after several years. I was never an amazing dancer by any means however I loved it lots. Since I work in makeup now I must live vicariously through other dancers. Hence, the creation of Cliche Dance Makeup Compact. I just couldn't resist! It's pretty fab and I hope all of you dancers out there like it. PS- never give up on your dancing dreams. Anyway it comes with 3 eyeshadows, a blush, browdefiner, and red lipstick- all in one place! Pretty amazing right? To make life even sweeter, it can be used as a fundraiser for your dance studio. You can keep a portion of every sale to one of your dancers. The best part is you really don't have to do any work and you still make $$$. Some studios are even making it mandatory to buy or are adding it into tuiton. Gotta love it. Also, its totally customizable, you can request different colors, no problemo. Sorry about the short blog. Busy day.

It's all in the application

Most makeup artists tend to carry a huge set of brushes, very intimidating for someone that wants to recreate a look done by an artist. Where to begin??? Well here's a little secret, I am a makeup artist myself and I rarely ever use more than 5 brushes on myself or anyone else. Most of them serve similar purposes. That's why we created the essential brush kit. It contains only the most important brushes, several of which can be used for multiple purposes. It is also important to have quality brushes or else they are simply useless. These brushes are made of natural animal hair for the best application. Natural hair is very soft and holds the makeup very well. And yes it is true that you can make brushes from animal hair without harming the animal. Hey, I've got 3 cats (yes 3!) and so I'm quite the animal lover myself. We made them in zebra print pattern for a little attitude. Look for more patterns in the future!

Glam Organics?

Yes GLAM organics! When you think of mineral organic makeup you probably think of messy loose powder everywhere. Well it doesn't have to be that way. Our mineral makeup is pressed and there is no mess. We currently carry two compacts of glam organic makeup in naturals or colors but stay tuned for some new ones launching in mid-fall :-) Organic makeup is a little different in application because it is made of different ingredients than traditional makeup. The colors are usually not as rich and high pigmented but with the right application you won't even notice the difference. When applying glam organic eyeshadow you should lightly tap the makeup on your eyes with the brush rather than sweep it on as you normally would. The pressed powder makes this job easy without getting makeup all over your face. If you're still having issues try the mascara shield. It works wonders.

compacts, compacts, compacts

Ok we confess, we are crazy about compacts. We just can't get enough! I mean, why wouldn't you love something that fits all your makeup? We carry all kinds of compacts. There are the mini design your own compacts with 4 eyeshadows or the standard design your own compacts that also include 2 blushes. We also have two premade compacts for smokey or sultry eyes with mirror clings that have all the how to's and tips that you need. There is also a limited edition compact that changes every season and sometimes contains colors that cannot be bought in any other compact. We even have a compact that was designed just for dancers. Ask us about our Cliche Dance and Cheer Program for your studio! Anyway, look out for our brand new standard sized compacts with white interior and black exterior that includes even better brushes than before! Coming soon...

Oh how Cliche...

cliche- something that has become overly familiar or commonplace
So why are we called Cliche Cosmetics you ask? Well that's a great question. After I finished makeup school I decided that I NEEDED to create a cosmetics line. I wanted a line that was simple and only offered the essentials, not a bunch of random chaos that confused people even more. Hey there's a million different lines out there and billion different products, it can definately get crazy! So I decided that I needed to find a name for this fabulous line that I would create. If I told you it took me about 6 months to come up with a name, I would not be exaggerating in the least. Eventually I settled on the name Cliche Cosmetics. It has a ring to it don't you think? The name was a cross between two theories. One being that all makeup lines are created for the same general purpose, to make people feel better about themselves. The other focused more on our makeup line itself. We decided to create compacts that helped people to create the looks of season or whatever look they decided to invent themselves. Both of these theories involve things that we have seen before and are familar with. How cliche... but we love it!
